Pandemic Updates in Safety Plans
Safety Plans: Updating Pandemic Outbreak/Infectious Disease Section
In the last several weeks, we are happy that we have been able to connect with so many of our district partners. Through our conversations, we have been answering questions and providing additional resources and guidance as needed.
In our quest to continue to support our clients, especially during this corona virus pandemic, we wanted to get our top request for guidance out to all of our clients - updating your school safety plans Pandemic Outbreak/Infectious Disease section.
Please find below a collection of resources that will help your schools revise all sections including Mitigation/Prevention, Preparedness, Response, and Recovery.
CDC Guidance for Schools - This is the latest guidance for administrators to plan, prepare, and respond to COVID-19 including information to help administrators plan for continuity of teaching and learning during an infectious disease breakout.
CDC Pandemic Flu Checklist - This PDF includes actions to take in the areas of Mitigation/Prevention, Preparedness, Response, and Recovery.
USDE Pandemic Flu Newsletter (click on the URL link to download the PDF) - This provides useful information on how schools can respond to infectious disease outbreaks.
Another area you may want to consider updating is your existing board policy BP/AR 3516 - Emergencies and Disaster Preparedness Plan. As we experience new challenges with COVID-19, CSBA shared information on updating this Board Policy/Administrative Regulation.

We hope you find this information helpful and as always, we are here to help. If you have any questions or there are other areas you need guidance on, please feel free to reach out to me.
Stay safe and until next time,
Mike Brown, Good Governance Program Manager
