SI&A Data-Informed Communications Platform Earns ESSA Level IV Certification

SI&A worked with LearnPlatform by Instructure to develop a reliable evidence base for district and school communications

RIDGELAND, Miss. – August 1, 2023 – School Innovations & Achievement (SI&A), a leader in K-12 attendance solutions, has earned Level IV certification based on the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) by “demonstrating rationale” for its impact on school-family relationship outcomes according to ESSA standards of evidence.

SI&A worked with educational research company LearnPlatform to develop an evidence-based report and logic model articulating how implementing SI&A impacts relevant student outcomes.

The report found schools that successfully implement SI&A’s software and services see the following long-term benefits.

“Students experience significant positive outcomes, including increased graduation rates, improved academic performance, and the development of lifelong attendance habits that better prepare them for college and career success. School staff are equipped to meet the diverse learning needs of all students. School staff also experience increased job satisfaction and are better able to address individual attendance challenges by providing social and emotional support instead of resorting to suspension…Administrators establish a culture of achievement within their district, resulting in reduced achievement gaps and increased equity as chronic absenteeism rates decline. Families become engaged in their child’s learning and actively collaborate with the school to provide support at home, fostering a strong partnership between home and school.”

Based on this work, SI&A was awarded a Level IV badge, showing there is a solid rationale behind the product outcomes based on accepted education research, a recommended approach for how districts can implement SI&A with fidelity, and appropriate usage metrics for tracking.

The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires that federal funds be allocated only to programs that meet certain standards of evidence-based interventions. According to Instructure, the average district accesses over 1400 EdTech tools every month. The ESSA badges help school and district leaders choose solutions that are backed by high-quality research.
