We were founded in 2003, and have grown from our origins as the back-office facilitator for most of California’s school districts and county offices of education, into the creator of unparalleled products, most notably The Achievement Initiative, powered by Attention2Attendance® (A2A), a software solution that decreases school absenteeism by as much as 25 percent – and works 100 percent of the time.

Before expanding outside of California, we started as a compliance company dealing with the complex and constantly changing climate of state regulations, economic recession, school funding priorities and politically shifting paradigms.

Today our signature product – The Achievement Initiative – has created a new standard. The Achievement Initiative will improve your attendance numbers, bottom line and, most important, your students’ lives.

You can't change the wind, but you can adjust your sails

A basic definition of job satisfaction is a feeling of fulfillment or enjoyment that a person derives from their job.

Last week marked my 17-year anniversary with SI&A. My biggest professional challenge this year has been fostering connection in absence of our typical in-person networking events, PD workshops and conferences. That challenge-to-connect gave life to this blog, an “AskErica” email Q&A, webinar offerings, and a pivot to virtual conferences and workshops.

How we handle a challenge is what defines us. I have always liked Jimmy Dean's strategy for handling challenges, "I can't change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination.”

In my recent interview with Dr. Tony Wold, the Associate Superintendent at the West Contra Costa Unified School District, I asked him how they embraced the challenge that school closures presented when connecting with families.

Listen as he shared how WCCUSD educators had to pivot in the DL environment to make a direct connection with their families.
