Both LIVE workshops are on March 30 - details below.
This week several thousand education professionals will descend upon Sacramento, CA, filling the halls and hotels downtown as both the CA Association of School Business Officials (CASBO) Annual Conference, and the CA Association of African American Superintendents and Administrators (CAAASA) Summit are this week. Never one to miss an event, SI&A will be at both! Join us at one or both of these fantastic learning events.
You can catch our CASBO workshop with Sulphur Springs SD, “Out of Dough: When Stimulus Dollars and ADA Hold Harmless Run Out” on Wednesday, Mach 30, 11 am, at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center (Room 12). The session will talk about the attendance cliff that has emerged. Districts are facing unprecedented challenges as student enrollment has dropped nationally by more than two percent. Prior to school closures, statewide chronic absenteeism was on the rise and has only been exacerbated over the last two years with ongoing quarantine issues. Hear how Sulphur Springs SD is leveraging partnerships to increase communication, improve attendance, and support independent study. Learn how they use real-time data for early identification in order to address attendance barriers in support of ADA.
Our CAAASA workshop, “Pandemic Pushout: Addressing Absenteeism in a Pandemic” with Twin Rivers USD is on Wednesday at 2:30 pm at the Sheraton Grand Hotel (Tofanelli Room). This 'can’t miss' session will include a discussion on the use of school-to-home communication and outreach to families to create connection and keep students learning. Hear how TRUSD uses real-time data to adapt their MTSS model of practice to take action to reconnect with disconnected students and get at the root of attendance problems to close equity gaps.
