Road to Your Dreams Where Can Education Take You?
SI&A Presents the 6th Annual Art Contest for Grades K-12
www.sia-us.com/artcontest
Step 1: Share Your Dream!
Education can take you far - where do you want to go? Consider the places you could visit, a job you could have, or exciting discoveries you could find. Make an artwork that shares your dreams and how your education will take you there.
Size & Media: Share your dream in a drawing, painting or 2-D medium (digitally-created artwork will be accepted; however it must be delivered in a hard-copy format, printed). Minimum size: no smaller than 8 inches on any side; Maximum size, no larger than 36 inches on any side.
Step 2: Make a Statement.
Write an artist's statement (at least 3 sentences) to tell us about your artwork. Why did you choose this subject? How will your education be the road to this dream? What medium did you use? What did you learn from the project?
Step 3: Send it in!
MAY 2, 2008
Submit your artwork and artist's statement, attaching your entry form securely. Teachers may submit for a class as a group.
Judges will narrow down the entries to four finalists in each age division based upon the Visual Arts Content Standards for California Public Schools, which can be accessed at CDE Visual Arts Standards.
Step 4: Visit, Vote, Win!
MAY 12-16, 2008
Go to our website at www.sia-us.com/artcontest and vote for your favorites starting May 12. See if you made it to the finals! (One vote per person)
A grand prize of $150 will be awarded to the finalist with the most votes in each age division. Each finalist will be featured in the SI&A Annual Calendar distributed to schools across California. Every student receives a certificate of participation!
