Nightmare in the Jungle

Khyler L.

Grade2: McNair Elementary School - Compton USD

I chose animals because I want to help animals get better so they can survive in the wild. By studying hard and getting good grades I can be the best animal doctor. What I learned from this project is that I can be an artist too.

When I grow up, I want to be a fireman. I want to save people. And, then, put out the fire. Firemen need to know fire rules like 'Stop, Drop and Roll!'

Natalie N.

Yo voy a pasar cada año en la escuela y voy a cantar con los que me apoyen. Yo voy a tratar con muchas ganas para llegar a ser una cantante. Ride to your Dreams

Alexis B.

Grade 5: Charleston Elementary School - Los Banos USD

The thing I used for coloring is colored pencils. My artwork is about being who you want to be when you grow up. The reason I picked this subject is that after college you pick what job you want and where your education takes you. It will tell me what I want to be when I grow up. I will know who I want to be.

Doors Open a Whole New World

Maxine C.

Grade 7/8: Colonel Mitchell Paige Middle School - Desert Sands USD

Well as you can see, it's a very awkward art piece, but to me I see something distinguished, divine, and genuine. In this world there is no racism, madness nor sadness. The colors represent all the different people and the happiness. The shapes represent the future we have ahead of us. That's why it's called 'Doors Open a Whole New World,' because this new world is glory.

Underwater Adventure

Lydia Z.

Grade 5: Charleston Elementary School - Los Banos USD

I want to grow up to be a marine biologist, just like my grandma. This drawing is of me as a marine biologist. I would have to go to college to learn how. This project has taught me to follow your dreams, but stay in school.

Save the Pandas

Sally L.

Grade 8: Carpinteria Middle School - Carpinteria USD

I chose this type of drawing because I was inspired by my Asian heritage. I really love pandas and to know that they are becoming extinct saddens me. If I were to somehow saves pandas, I would take pandas from dangerous habitats and try to save and raise them. In this tempura painting, I used different textures and detailed pieces to really bring out the realism and Asian culture. I used a lot of different colors to blend together to show more natural colors. From this project, I learned that once you've made a mistake you can't go back and erase but you can learn from your mistakes and learn to use them in the painting.

The Power of Art

Lih T.

Grade 9: Lindhurst High School - Marysville JUSD

I chose this subject because I know art is a very fun subject. It calms me down a lot and makes me have something to do when there is nothing to do. It gives me the opportunity to be creative. My education will be the road to my dream because having art as a dream doesn't only mean you only should study art. You need to study math, English, and lots of others too! Art deals with math actually, and is used to measure paper maybe. The medium I used in this project was pens markers and pencil. Something very interesting I learned from this project was that I had fun! I got a chance to think deep about my education and my true desires for when I grow up.

Road to Your Dreams

Edgar V.

Grade 11: Village Academy High School - Pomona USD

Why did I choose this subject? Well, I think I chose this subject because when I heard about this contest I had just come back from a road trip. Education is the road to any dream, my dream though involves many years of education to become successful. The media used in my art involved a black ink marker, metallic color pencils and skin-tone color pencils. In this project I learned to make a better contrast with the background and to have constrained proportions.

>Road of Success

Trevon V.

Grade 10: Inderkum High School - Natomas USD

My reason for wanting a career as a detective is because I watch a lot of 'The First 48.' I also like to watch 'CSI Miami' and other shows like that. It seems going to a four year university and major in criminal justice to pursue my dream. The road is pretty far but I think I have enough gas to go the distance. I used a digital camera and Fireworks software to complete my project. I used the element of color to bring our my road to success. My photos were taken with natural light and harmony was the principle of design that I used for my road. I learned that you should stay motivated in with your goal in mind, to meet your goal.

The Bridge

Daniel M.

Grade 9: Village Academy High School - Pomona USD

The reason I chose the bridge to represent education was because without a complete bridge, people cannot get far. With education I can open up more opportunities to get a better life. I used watercolor and color pencils and black ink.
