Working Here

We asked our managers to reveal, in their own words, what it’s like to be part of the SI&A team. Here’s what they said:

Korie Weakley

Director - Human Resources

“The first thing I noticed, and appreciated, when I joined SI&A is that they treated everyone as an adult. The company sets high goals for all of us but then lets us do our jobs.”

Korie joined the company in 2003.

Dr. Lee Funk

Director - Special Education

“What attracted me to SI&A, after a long career in education, was its decision-making, which is always well thought out but also rapid. The company knows and supports change. There’s a feeling that we’re here to make things work. I also applaud the fact that we have ‘No Travel Mondays', so that everyone’s here at the office and everyone knows what’s going on with everyone else."

Lee has been with SI&A since 2011.

Emanuel Norman

Intervention Manager & Technical Trainer

“I spent 20 years in the Air Force and was also a college instructor but what I loved about coming to SI&A was the openness. If you had an idea, you told it to someone who could not only give you honest feedback but also, if the idea was great, put it on the path to reality. To me, this is the SI&A difference.”

Emanuel has been with the company since 2005.

April Ritter

Vice President - Operations

“In other companies, it’s almost like they want employees to have a sense of helplessness; here, people take ownership of their work. That makes it all very personal, in a good way. You should never join this company if you don’t want to grow.”

April has been with the company since its founding.

Gemma Ball

Director - Partner Relations

“This firm has the best open-door policy — you can always approach Jeff Williams (CEO) and Susan Cook (COO). You’re managed here, but never micro-managed. I started out in retail and the opposite is usually true in that industry. This company invests in your hands, your head and your heart.”

Gemma has been with the company since its founding.

Grace Spencer

Vice President - Marketing & Product Management

“What we try to do at SI&A is to bring people into the company that know things we don’t. I think that’s the main reason why, as a company, we literally accomplish everything we set out to do.”

Grace has been with the company since its founding.

Mike Brown

Mandated Cost Program Manager

“We have a lot thrown at us every day at SI&A — and nobody ducks! Even when it’s hectic, we always find a way to get the work done and get it done very well. The mantra is ‘Urgent: Yes. Panic: No!’ We’re deadline-driven, which means we don’t have a lot of ‘down’ time but when there is, it’s spent on improving how we do things.”

Mike has been with the company since its founding.

Mel Trammell

Division Manager - Operations

“I’ve had a number of jobs here over the years. I think I came here with a slightly different outlook because I had just spent two years in Japan teaching English. So I went from being in a very structured environment into a more relaxed one. The main difference here, from other companies and environments, is that because we spend each day helping our clients get through the red tape, we make sure we don’t have any.”

Mel has been with the company since its founding.

Jeremiah Johnson

Vice President - Information Technology

“In the other places I’ve worked, they posted mission statements on the walls, we talked about them at meetings and then, for the most part, we ignored them. Here, we take our goals and, more to the point, our clients, very seriously. We have people at SI&A who are sincerely committed to making a difference in children’s lives.”

Jeremiah, who has a really cool name, joined SI&A in 2011.

Lexi Nutting

Manager – Product & Project Management

“I pretty much grew up at this company. It’s where I learned that it’s not just a matter of doing your job — it’s a matter of doing it better. A couple of years ago we did an internal trade show. All of the departments set up booths to explain to everyone else what they did. Each presentation was creative and, even though the format was fun, very professional.”

Lexi has been with the company since its founding.

Chelsea Nentwig

Operations Manager

“After I was at SI&A awhile, I was talking to one of my friends who’d also gone to work for a big company after college. I mentioned a conversation I’d had with Jeff Williams and she said, ‘You mean you actually see your boss? At my company, all we have is a photo of the CEO on the wall.’”

Chelsea came to SI&A in 2005.

Christie Huus

Product Manager

“What I like most about SI&A is its growth opportunities. People want to improve and management supports that through training programs and other incentives.”

Christie has been with SI&A since 2004.

Cara DiBlasio

Executive Coach

“The amount of training we receive here, and that’s available to us, is unlike any organization I’ve ever worked for. In other jobs, the feeling was: ‘Hi. Here’s your desk. Do your work. Have a nice time.’ At SI&A, the company is invested in you if you’re invested in growing and improving.”

Cara joined SI&A in 2010.
